I am a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus. I have a broad interest in animal behaviour, perception and cognition. My research primarily focuses on the production and perception of visual and acoustic signals. At the moment I am particularly interested in perceptual tricks that can manipulate perception during mate choice and predator-prey interactions. I am also interested in the acquisition and function of vocal mimicry in songbirds. Further details of my work, and of the fledgling Animal Perception and Behaviour group, are given on the research page.
I am extremely grateful to the Royal Society, European Research Council, NERC, Deakin University and the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour for funding my research.
